Position Description/Responsibilities:
 
This individual will be expected to provide expertise in the following activities:

  • Assist the Database team with various ongoing tasks, including but not limited to database installation, configuration and hardening, backup validation, performance tuning, replication setup, and general database monitoring.
  • Recommend best practices and procedures; install, upgrade and maintain SQL Server databases on Windows Servers, including backup and recovery; allocating storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system.
  • Work with teams of application programmers, system architects to create solutions to meet business goals.
  • Perform off-hours (evening or weekend work) as needed for emergency or maintenance tasks.
  • Provide support for internal users and external data exchange partners.
  • Perform optimization and tuning activities, including capacity planning, tracking historical usage, trending future resource needs and modifying resource allocations as needed.
  • Provides recommendations on technical architecture.
  • Provides hands-on training and mentoring for other database administrative staff.

 
Position Requirements/Technical Skills:
Mandatory Requirements:

Database Administrator
3 to 5 years experience in data analysis and database management.  Candidate is able to provide maintenance, enhancement, designing of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models and performance tuning.

The following Requested (Desireable) Qualifications are not mandatory and candidates that do not fit all of the following, are still strongly encouraged to apply.
 

  1. 48+ months experience as SQL Server DBA in Windows environment.
  2. 36+ months of experience with implementations, upgrades, conversions and consolidation projects with SQL Server databases.
  3. 24+ months experience in writing technical documentation.
  4. 24+ months experience working with Microsoft Premium Support troubleshooting database systems.
  5. 24+ months supporting a Microsoft Biztalk environment including disaster recovery of BizTalk databases.
  6. 24+ months experience configuring and proactively using SCOM for Database monitoring.
  7. 24+ months of work experience in installing/maintaining clustered instances of SQLServer 2008/2008R2.
  8. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  9. 36+ months of solid, diverse work experience in IT, database management, and system administration.
